I had to throw my two cents worth in on this one. My first thought is that like Joe the plummer some reporter or reporters started digging for information, thats what reporters do, and came up with a determination of her immigration status. My next thought was this was a good example of how complicated U.S. immigration law is as well as how non-functional it is. The political side of Obama forces him to say that the the law must be enforced regardless of the personal concequences to him and his aunt. My wife has family members that have a spectrum as far as immigration status. I never ask. sometimes they tell me, sometimes they don't. My brother-in-law did'nt tell me until a few months before he was sworn in as a U.S. citizen.
